Coaxial Circuits

Altech Coaxial Anesthesia Circuits feature the latest in anesthesia breathing system technology. With its “tube in tube” design, the Altech Coaxial circuit uses passive warming to improve temperature and humidity of inspired gas without water build-up. Its compact, single limb design minimizes clutter around the patient and the concentric wye piece minimizes breathing resistance. Coaxial Anethesia Circuits can be fully customized to meet any individual requirements.

Invasive Ventilation

When the upper respiratory tract is bypassed by an endotracheal or tracheostomy tube, normal warming and humidification of inspired gases cannot take place. Dysfunction of the Mucociliary Transport System can occur if gases reaching the lowest respiratory tract are insufficiently warmed and humidified.

Non Invasive Ventilation

  • Single Limb CPAP circuit with integrated adjustable PEEP valve (5-20 cmH2O) for avoiding alveolar collapse during expiration

Active Humidification

Altech embedded heated wire circuits are spiral reinforced and have smooth interior tubing, with heating wires incorporated into the spiral construction. Our tubings come in different sizes and lengths, depending on your specific needs and patient weight (neonatal, pediatric, adult).

Embedded wire design creates less condensation and resistance .

Embedded heater wire enhances uniform heating from outside to inside along the length of the tube hence 360 degress Warming of the tube.

IPPB Transport Circuits

The aim of Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB) is to provide short-term or intermittent mechanical ventilation for the purpose of augmenting lung expansion, assisting ventilation or assisting secretion clearance. IPPB is the maintenance of a positive pressure throughout inspiration, returning to atmospheric pressure during expiration.  By increasing the tidal volume, the elastic recoil of the lungs and chest wall is increased thereby increasing the expiratory flow rate (litres/minute).

IPPB has therefore been shown to: Increase tidal volume, Mobilise Secretions

IPPB uses a pressure limited ventilator with the patient triggering inspiration through spontaneous effort and expiration being passive.

Coaxial Circuits with Integrated Water Trap

Altech Coaxial Circuits with Water Trap

  • Can be used safely in anesthesiology. Special designed self sealed water traps on both inspiratory and expiratory lines protects the machine and the patient.
  • Can continue to be used in PACU if the patient needs to be mechanically ventilated after surgery.
  • Although coaxial circuit has been designed as an anesthesia circle system, it has also proven to be suitable in the ICU as providing a desired level of humidity. Altech coaxial (tube within a tube) breathing system ideal for use within both operating room and ICU.
  • The system provides increased circuit mobility and low weight in comparison with a traditional circle circuit.
  • Water traps also eliminate the possible infection risk in ICU leading to sepsis caused by condensation accumulation within the inspiratory and expiratory lines.
